Read about the importance of Hiring a Professional >>> Services Offered Focus Assessment: This is the starting point for all of my clients. During this 1.5 hour on-site consultation, I work with you to discover your personal style, what’s working, what’s not working and what is important to you. Solutions to specific organizing dilemmas are offered and a starting point is determined. Specific supplies needed for organizing or other resources that would be beneficial to you are also discussed. A fee will be charged, to be paid in full at the end of the session. Hands-On Organizing: For most of my clients, Hands-On Organizing is the best, and sometimes the only way for them to get past the overwhelmed feeling they have, and get organized. We work together to declutter, sort, purge, and create “homes”. After the initial Focus Assessment, you and I agree on mutual times and dates for the Hands-On Organizing session(s). These sessions can vary in length, from a minimum of 3 hours to no more than 6 hours at a time. Session length depends on both your schedule and the specific project at hand. You and I will also discuss any supplies needed and how those will be acquired. An hourly fee will be charged, to be paid in full at the end of each session. Packages are also available. Maintenance & Touch Up: Your newly organized space will feel great! But, it will take some work to keep it that way. We will strategize a routine that you can use on a daily basis. If life seems a bit too busy to maintain the organized space, ORGANIZE IT! can do Touch Up for you on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.

What is your Biggest Bedroom Battle ?
Your Bedroom ~ Your SanctuaryPicture your bedroom………yes, that room you fall into every night and awaken to every morning. Is your bedroom a retreat from the hostile outside world? Or does it resemble a cross between a laundry hamper, recycled paper bin, and an aisle from Toys R Us? February is the month of love. No matter your marital status, love yourself and create a sanctuary that will help you rejuvenate your spirit, your mind and your body. Your bedroom is your sanctuary. Clear the clutter, get it organized, and feel the benefits of this haven within your home. Let’s get started!Deal with Your Stuff – Start your bedroom makeover by removing those items that do not belong – paperwork, kid toys, things you are storing in there – anything that has somehow worked its way into your bedroom. Next, tackle your clothing. The #1 clutter contributor in a bedroom is clothing. Chances are, if your clothing is on your floor, bed, dresser top, or on a chair, you might have more clothes than your current storage can handle. Closet, Dresser, Infrastructure – As you put your clothes away, take the time to really organize your drawers and your closet. Drawer dividers really help keep things neat and easy to find. Use a shoe rack or bag to keep your foot gear up off the floor and easy to see. Wooden or plastic hangers not only move more freely on the closet rod, they actually help your clothes hang more neatly – saving you time in the long run. Other must have items include a functional closet and/or dresser, bedside table, and hamper. Sanctuary Routine – How will you keep your bedroom decluttered and things put away? You need to create a routine that you can live with. Suggested AM routine – make your bed (at least pull the sheets up), put your PJ’s away, pick up and put away any clothes and shoes on the floor or furniture. Suggested PM routine – before you turn off the lights, pick up and put away clothes and shoes, and remove any ‘non-bedroom’ items. Short-term Storage – What to do with clothes you have worn only a short period of time, and you know that you could where them again, but they seem too unclean to be put back into the drawer? Usually these slightly worn garments end up on a chair or the floor – never to be worn again. So, have an area (hooks on the back of a door? a special shelf in your closet?) where you can put these clothes until you wear them again. Who & How- Figure out who will help keep your bedroom tidy and inviting. If you live alone, well, this is easy. It is you (or hired help). If you are sharing your bedroom, determine who will pick things up, put things away, and to what level it will be done (is it enough to just get the sheet to meet the pillow or do you want military corners on your made bed?). See you next month! Martha Goss |
