Services Offered

Focus Assessment: This is the starting point for all of my clients. During this 1.5 hour on-site consultation, I work with you to discover your personal style, what’s working, what’s not working and what is important to you. Solutions to specific organizing dilemmas are offered and a starting point is determined. Specific supplies needed for organizing or other resources that would be beneficial to you are also discussed. A fee will be charged, to be paid in full at the end of the session.

Hands-On Organizing: For most of my clients, Hands-On Organizing is the best, and sometimes the only way for them to get past the overwhelmed feeling they have, and get organized. We work together to declutter, sort, purge, and create “homes”. After the initial Focus Assessment, you and I agree on mutual times and dates for the Hands-On Organizing session(s). These sessions can vary in length, from a minimum of 3 hours to no more than 6 hours at a time. Session length depends on both your schedule and the specific project at hand. You and I will also discuss any supplies needed and how those will be acquired. An hourly fee will be charged, to be paid in full at the end of each session. Packages are also available.

Maintenance & Touch Up: Your newly organized space will feel great! But, it will take some work to keep it that way. We will strategize a routine that you can use on a daily basis. If life seems a bit too busy to maintain the organized space, ORGANIZE IT! can do Touch Up for you on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.

Rotary Recycling Center

Here is a great option for your recycling bins - the Rotary Recycling Center .

Many modern kitchens have a corner cabinet that is deep and tough to access.

The Rotary Recycling Center has three bins that spin around for quick access. And, the bins lift out so you can empty them easily.

Looks like a great use for that corner cabinet.

Mental Clutter

Ever feel like there is clutter in your mind?

Typically, physical clutter is what pops to mind when we think of being disorganized.  But, have you ever considered your mental clutter – the clutter that is clogging your thoughts and keeping you from moving forward?

This month let’s examine a few ways to deal with mental clutter.  Some of these ideas you can do with a pen and a piece of paper.  Other ideas are on-line or computer based.  Take what works and enjoy!

THE HUMBLE TO DO LIST ~ A lot of people use To Do Lists to organize their thoughts.  To Do Lists are a great place to dump or purge what is clogging your mind.  But, have you ever wondered WHY some To Do List items just never get done?  Here are some tips to create and use your To Do Lists effectively.

  • When creating a To Do List, write down everything that you want to get accomplished (including routine tasks such as laundry or paying bills).
  • Assess the amount of time that each task will take.  Honestly, this has been a key for several of my clients.  Knowing how much time something will take sometimes makes it easier to prioritize the tasks.
  • Prioritize the tasks on the To Do List.  What do you absolutely, positively need to get done.  Put that at the top of your list.  Less important items can hang down at the bottom or be removed altogether.

One last thought on To Do Lists and clearing the mental clutter.  Try creating a new list every day (those projects written down on a To Do List that is months old is the equivalent of carrying around an old shirt that you love, but just doesn’t fit any more). Start fresh!

MIND MAPPING ~ A Mind Map is a tool that can help you think through and gain clarity on an idea, project or event.

Mind mapping can be quickly done with paper and pencil.  Or, if you are a bit more techie, try www.bubbl.us.  If you are at all visual, this technique can be a great way to clear that mental clutter and get focused.

Some basic tips for Mind Mapping:

  • Start at the center of the page with your idea, project, or event and work your way out.
  • Use only key words or, better yet, images.
  • Color choice can be helpful.  Use different colors for the different areas to help things stand out and to create strong associations.
  • If you get stuck in one area, move on.  Don’t be too worried about the absolute logic of your Mind Map.  This is visual brainstorming.  So, don’t get stuck on too many rules.
